History

A History of Performance

Artesys got our start in 1987 when Bob Jones founded R.T. Jones Capital Equities Management, Inc. Since then, we’ve worked to help our clients meet their retirement and wealth management goals. We’ve always taken a different approach to investing – built on sound science, offensive and defensive strategies and insight on endless historical performance.

We take a lot of pride in the work that we do. So we’re happy to share some of our proudest moments. Take a look:

1987

  • Bob Jones founds R.T. Jones Capital Equities Management, Inc. and R.T. Jones Capital Equities, Inc. to offer and distribute a discretionary tactical asset allocation management program through mutual funds.

1988

  • Stifel Nicolaus distributes the R.T. Jones Capital Equities, Inc. tactical management program

1989

  • R.T. Jones Capital Equities, Inc. tactical program offered as a managed account through Principal Financial

1996

  • R.T. Jones Capital Equities, Inc. discontinues management program through Principal Financial to establish a managed account relationship with Manulife

1999

  • R.T. Jones Capital Equities, Inc. starts a pilot strategic asset allocation management program

2000

  • R.T. Jones Capital Equities, Inc. rolls out tactical and strategic asset allocation programs grounded in Modern Portfolio Theory

2001

  • R.T. Jones Capital Equities, Inc. discontinues management program through Manulife to establish a managed account relationship with American United Life Insurance Company (OneAmerica)

2003

  • R.T. Jones Capital Equities Management, Inc. brands the tactical and strategic management programs under the name “Artesys”

2008

  • R.T. Jones Capital Equities Management, Inc. is registered as an investment advisor and tactical and strategic management programs are moved under its ownership.
  • R.T. Jones Capital Equities Management, Inc. tactical and strategic management programs are renamed as Offense and Defense.

2009

  • OneAmerica and R.T. Jones Capital Equities Management, Inc. agree to take steps to begin to offer Artesys as a managed account option on OneAmerica retirement plans.

2014

  • The GAO (Government Accountability Office) used Artesys qualified plan performance history in their report to the Department of Labor as a recommended industry best practice for reporting performances by managed accounts. Report featured as figure 12 on page 56 of the GAO Report
  • RT Jones is mentioned in the Wall Street Journal Article Pimco Gets Brush-off Close to Home March 4th, 2014
